چکیده

Abstract Coreference processing of Control constructions and their pronoun-containing counterparts can be studied experimentally using priming or interference paradigms. We replicate findings in a study on non-finite Norwegian (Larsen & Johansson, 2020) contrast them with finite effects grammatical maze (G-maze) design. asked participants to read sentences word-by-word select the grammatically correct continuation from two options. When ungrammatical option was potential antecedent within sentence, we predicted interference, i.e., longer reaction times compared an unrelated baseline. observed trend towards significant when participant presented either noun phrase (NP) antecedents PRO competition infinitive marker (test position zero) during sentence. This indicates reactivation at marker, (PRO) near marker. also differences between pronoun counterparts. A effect recorded for Subject Pronoun NP itself. similar Object sentences.

A Grammar Sparrer for Norwegian

We demonstrate an on-line tool for grammatical error detection for Norwegian with freely chosen inputs, and error-messages informing the user about possible mistakes; the system also generates grammatically correct alternatives for ill-formed input strings. The system is built as an extension to a general-purpose large HPSG grammar of Norwegian, with special ‘mal’-rules identifying a set of 40 ...

Implementing Norwegian Reflexives in an HPSG Grammar

The paper reviews basic patterns of reflexive binding in Norwegian, and explores a possible implementation of them in an HPSG grammar using the LKB platform. Norwegian has two reflexive elements, with distinct constraints and corresponding 'anti-binding' effects; they can cooccur but also occur independently. As over-all strategy for resolving reflexive binding we use one resembling the 'slash'...

The 'Specifier' in an HPSG grammar implementation of Norwegian

We present a principled background for the adoption of a category ‘Specifier’ in the analysis of noun phrases, and show how, under certain constraining assumptions, it can be successfully employed in the implementation of an HPSG grammar of noun phrases for Norwegian. How widely the assumptions can be applied on empirical grounds cross-linguistically, is still a matter for further investigation.
